Leah first came to me to build overall health and fitness and make it a part of her lifestyle. This past year she had the goal to start running. So we started working on that goal. We started off with short interval runs to help build up capacity. This is when she started to experience front of hip pain and side of the hip pain which meant she had to take a rest to let the inflammation down.

This gave us a great indication that there was some mobility restrictions within her hip which showed up more with the more she ran, so with our workouts and daily movement snacks our focus was to get her hips moving better and feeling stronger.

How did we do this?

We did this by working on glute strength exercises such as hip thrusts, hip abductions. We also including things such as lunges working through a deep range which will allow us to work through ankle mobility and front of hip mobility.

One other thing we worked on was putting in a daily movement snack the deep squat, allowing her body to relax in to deeper ranges to open up the hips. When we first started she was unable to hold herself upright without falling over. Now she is able to get deeper, keep more upright and not hold onto anything.

Leah has now been able to get into her running consistently, doing a 5km weekly pain free!

The goal with freeing your hips is working on strength exercises and a range of stretches/mobility exercises.

Just check her out!
